GAINESVILLE - The family of Elaine Nix of Gainesville, whose body was found in northern Gwinnett County more than five years ago, has authorized a private investigator to assist in locating any information about her disappearance on September 20 1999.
Elaine's body was located in an industrial park near Rest Haven near the Hall-Gwinnett county line nine days later. Her last known location before disappearing was a pay phone at Zack's Food Rack on Candler Highway south of Gainesville.
"The first thing that I want to emphasize," said Hal Lowder, Jr., the owner of Eagle Watch Investigations in Gainesville, "is that the local agencies investigating the disappearance and death are doing all they can to solve this case, and are very competent in doing so. I am just assisting the family in trying to keep the case at the forefront of the public's memory."
Lowder said it's possible someone may come forward with some information that they thought has already been reported.
"A lot of times, people may think they saw or heard something, and the police already knew about it or they may know something that they think is insignificant," Lowder said. "Any information that I may gather will be immediately reported to the proper law enforcement authorities (and) I urge anyone that has any information to contact the Gwinnett County Police Investigations Division at 770-513-5300."
"The main concern of the family and me is that the community has not forgotten the disappearance and death of Elaine."
Lowder can be contacted at 770-287-7694 or [email protected]. More information about the case is posted on Eagle Watch Investigations' Web site.
