JEFFERSON - The Jackson County girls basketball team avoided a huge upset in the Region 8-AAAA tournament Monday night.<br>

The Lady Panthers (7-17) pulled out a 36-35 win over Madison County (1-22) in the play-in game.<br>

Jackson County will play Salem at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
