OAKWOOD - Oakwood Police Chief Randall Moon told the City Council at Monday's meeting about a charitable organization's volunteer car wash that has generated some complaints from local businesses.
The car wash operates in the parking lot of Merchant's Crossing shopping center on Mundy Mill Road, where soap chemicals in runoff are damaging asphalt and entering storm drains.
Because the organization takes donations instead of fees, the council is unable to disallow its operation without also preventing all charities from using car washes as fund raisers.
The council will continue to look at available options.
ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE
Oakwood Interim City Manager Patti Doss-Luna got the go-ahead to purchase new accounting software and software training for City Hall.
The $1,500 software and $1,400 training will replace the current outsourcing of city accounts that costs the city over four thousand dollars per year.
The change was needed because the current accounting firm in uninterested in continuing the current relationship with the city.
