GAINESVILLE - Gainesville's participation in this year's Tour de Georgia got a shot in the arm Wednesday with the announcement that Lance Armstrong will, after all, participate.
Helen Fincher of the Gainesville-Hall County Convention and Visitors Bureau, says people in town for the start of Stage Five April 23 will have a chance to get "up close and personal" with the bicycle racing icon - and other racers.
Fincher says Tour de Georgia requires that the racers make themselves available one hour before the start of each leg for autographs, pictures, etc.
It appeared just a week ago that Armstrong was definitely going to be a "no show" this year.
