Armstrong Atlantic State to forfeit season wins

SAVANNAH - An official says the Armstrong Atlantic State women&#39;s basketball team will have to forfeit all 17 wins this season and will be barred from participating in next week&#39;s Peach Belt Conference Tournament for using an ineligible player.<br> <br> Peach Belt Conference Commissioner Marvin Vanover said yesterday that junior forward Audosha Kelley should have been ineligible to play for the Pirates when she transferred from Middle Tennessee States.<br> <br> He say the documentation Armstrong provided was NOT complete and did NOT meet transfer requirements.<br> <br> Vanover says Kelley would still have been ineligible even if all the information had been provided.<br> <br> He says there is NO evident that the student lied. He says the mistakes were made by Armstong personnel -- quote -- ``in not documenting properly and not knowing the rules as far as transfers.&#39;&#39; He declined to provide details.<br> <br> As a result of the forfeitures, Armstrong Atlantic&#39;s record will change from seven-seven in the Peach Belt Conference and 17-11 overall to O-14 and O-28.<br> <br> Kelley was the Peach Belt Conference&#39;s leading scorer with 18-point-two points a game. She did NOT play in thee Pirates&#39; last two games, losses to Georgia College and State University and U-S-C Upstate.<br> <br> Amstrong Atlantic Coach Roger Hodge says the players are ``disappointed obviously&#39;&#39; after learning of the punishment. In his words, ``We all are. I hate to see them hurt.&#39;&#39;<br> <br> The school plans to appeal the decision to bar it from playing in the tournament.
