GAINESVILLE - A Hall County State Court Judge and the District Attorney are the only applicants for the Superior Court Judgeship being vacated by the retiring John Girardeau.
A spokeswoman for the Judicial Nominating Commission confirmed Tuesday that the deadline for applications passed with Judge Charles Wynne and D.A. Jason Deal as the only candidates.
As we were first to report last month, Judge Girardeau plans to retire as a fulltime judge March 31. He will assume Senior Judge status and will be available to fill in as needed in judicial circuits around the state.
The commission has until March 10 to submit a recommendation to Governor Perdue who will make the appointment to fill the vacancy.
