ATHENS - The state has its first confirmed flu case of the season - and it may be too close to home if you've not gotten a flue shot.
The state Division of Public Health says it's in Athens-Clarke County and was confirmed by the state Public Health Laboratory last week.
Although state health officials and CDC experts say this year's flu season has been slower to start than is typical, they point out that each flu season is unique, and a late start does not necessarily indicate a mild flu season.
