Police officer sentenced to 64 years for bank robbery

<p>A 17-year veteran Atlanta police officer was sentenced Wednesday to 64 years in federal prison for robbing banks of $137,000 in the summer of 2004.</p><p>Stanley Street, 46, of Jonesboro was convicted July 28 of entering Wachovia bank branches wearing a black ski mask and using a 9mm handgun to rob them.</p><p>Authorities said he used the money to pay employees of his private security company, "Atlanta's Finest."</p><p>According to testimony, Street's spree of robberies went from June 29 to Aug. 31, 2004, and included the Wachovia branch on Chattahoochee Avenue, which he robbed twice. He was identified when someone spotted the gray Toyota he had rented, and the rental paperwork showed Street's home address in Jonesboro.</p><p>___</p><p>HASH(0x1cd9798)</p>
