LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) Kentucky tackle Fatu Turituri will miss the rest of the football season because of a knee injury, coach Rich Brooks said Tuesday.
Turituri, a 6-foot-3, 290-pound junior from American Samoa who transferred from Los Angeles Harbor College in Wilmington, Calif., is the second Kentucky starter in as many days to be declared out for the season. Freshman middle linebacker Braxton Kelley, who also suffered a knee injury, was ruled out Monday.
Turituri and Kelley each suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament during Kentucky's 13-7 win over Mississippi State on Saturday. Both will undergo surgery, which will bring to 20 the number of Kentucky players operated on since practice began in August.
True freshman James Alexander will replace Turituri at tackle, Brooks said.
Kentucky (2-5, 1-3 Southeastern Conference) will host No. 17 Auburn (6-2, 4-1) this Saturday.
