SAVANNAH, Ga. - Tyler Thigpen threw for 136 yards and had three scores and Mike Tolbert scored twice to lead Coastal Carolina to a 42-16 win over Savannah State on Saturday.<br>

Thigpen, who completed 11-of-18 passes, also ran for 42 yards on nine carries.<br>

The Chanticleers (8-1) built a 21-0 lead that began with a 4-yard touchdown run by Tolbert in the first quarter. Then Jerome Simpson caught TD passes of 60 and a 12 yards from Thigpen in the first half.<br>

Tolbert, who rushed five times for 14 yards, added a 4-yard TD run in the second.<br>
<br>
Chadrick Cone led the Tigers (0-9) with 134 yards rushing on 28 carries. Garrett Williams, who went 24-for-40, threw for 288 yards and two interceptions.<br>
<br>
Clyde Tullis caught 12 passes for 162 yards for Savannah State, who outgained Coastal Carolina 384-273 in total yardage in the loss.<br>
