Guard rails to block entrance to I-85 rest area; demolition this winter

SUWANEE - More details were released Saturday about the closing of a rest area in north Gwinnett County scheduled for Monday.

A guard rail will block the entrance to the rest area on I-85 near Suwanee beginning Monday morning.

"The guard rail will not allow anybody to enter the rest area property once it is installed," says DOT spokeswoman Teri Pope.

Pope says the rest area is the only one closing statewide so far. She says DOT work crews will demolish the buildings on the site later this winter.
