Pregnant teen shot in leg during gun battle in Clayton County

<p>A pregnant teenager was brought to the hospital after she and her boyfriend were shot during a gun battle at a hotel.</p><p>Rodricka Allen, 17, who is eight months pregnant, was shot in the leg as she drove from the hotel Monday morning. Her unborn child was not injured, Clayton County Police Capt. Jeff Turner said.</p><p>The incident began around 11:40 a.m. when Allen and her boyfriend, Sharef Parks, 18, went to the hotel near Morrow. Allen was driving and Parks got out of the car and fired into the window of a second-floor hotel room, according to a witness.</p><p>As Parks was getting back into the car, people in the hotel room came out and at least one person fired at the car with an AK-47 assault rifle. An estimated 44 rounds were fired during the incident, authorities said.</p><p>Allen temporarily lost control of the car when she was hit in the leg and hit another parked car. But she and Parks made it back to the apartment where they had been living and called for help. Parks also suffered bullet wounds to his legs in the shootout.</p><p>Both were taken to Atlanta Medical Center. The hospital did not have any information on their conditions available early Tuesday morning.</p><p>Nathaniel Jenkins, 26, of Union City was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault. He is believed to be the one who fired the AK-47. Also, 46-year-old Alvin Jackson of Riverdale was arrested for making false statements.</p><p>___</p><p>HASH(0x2865ebc)</p>
