ATLANTA - The Atlanta Hawks placed 42-year-old center Kevin Willis on the injured list with a strained lower back Monday, general manager Billy Knight said.
The team signed forward-center Obinna Ekezie to a 10-day contract to replace Willis on the active roster.
Ekezie played 11 games in the National Basketball Development League (NBDL) for the Columbus (Ga.) Riverdragons. He returns to the Hawks after missing the 2003-04 season with a knee injury.
Willis was averaging 3.1 points and 2.5 rebounds in 22 games for the Hawks, who play host to Milwaukee Tuesday night.
