Georgia State gets by Troy

TROY, ALABAMA - Kevin Thomas scored 28 points and made six of Georgia State&#39;s 16 3-pointers in a 96-89 victory over Troy on Thursday night.<br> <br> Georgia State (6-9 overall, 3-4 Atlantic Sun Conference) made 58 percent of its field goal attempts.<br> <br> Troy ended the first half with a 5-0 run to close within 48-42. The Panthers opened the second half with a 15-6 run to take a 63-48 lead with 15:01 to play.<br> <br> Georgia State led 86-71 with 4:34 to go before Troy (5-10, 3-3) ran off eight straight points to close the gap to 86-79 with 1:32 to play. The Panthers then made eight straight free throws to seal the victory.<br> <br> Troy, which had 13 3-pointers of its own, got 21 points from from Eddie Baker, 20 points from Corey Hornsby, and 18 from point Guard Bobby Dixon.<br> <br> Herman Favors scored 25 points for Georgia State.
