HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Josh Boone had 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead No. 12 Connecticut to a 78-64 victory over Rutgers on Saturday.<br>

Charlie Villanueva had 14 points, tied his career-high with 14 rebounds and blocked six shots for the Huskies (10-3, 2-1 Big East), who outscored Rutgers 58-28 in the paint.<br>

Freshman Rudy Gay added 14 points, six blocks and eight rebounds for Connecticut, which scored the first eight points of the game and never trailed. The Huskies built a 14-4 lead early as Rutgers missed its first nine shots.<br>

Marquis Webb had 16 points and Quincy Douby added 13 for the Scarlet Knights (6-7, 0-3), who lost their fourth in a row. <br>

Rutgers was just 5-of-19 from 3-point range and couldn't compete with Connecticut underneath. The Huskies outrebounded Rutgers 53-46 and scored 27 second-chance points.<br>

After trailing 46-35 at halftime, Rutgers used a 7-2 spurt to close within 48-42, but would get no closer. Connecticut responded with a 14-4 run of its own.<br>

Connecticut, which had been held below 40 percent shooting in losing two of its previous three games, shot 45 percent from the field, and held Rutgers to 35 percent shooting.<br>

Connecticut has won 11 of its 12 games against Rutgers since the Scarlet Knights joined the Big East in 1995.
