<p>A man accused of killing a pawnshop clerk during a robbery has been sentenced to life in prison without parole, after he pleaded guilty to murder.</p><p>The Richmond County Superior Court death penalty trial for 25-year-old Glenn E. Beasley was scheduled to begin Monday, but attorneys reached a plea negotiation Wednesday.</p><p>Prosecutors said Beasley walked into Mo Money Jewelry & Pawnshop in Augusta on April 10, 2003, and tricked David L. Vanderloop, 54, into going to the back of the store. Beasley shot Vanderloop while his back was turned, then stood over his body and fired a second shot, prosecutors said.</p><p>Jewelry valued at more than $30,000, 23 weapons and cash were reported stolen.</p><p>Beasley was arrested in Columbia, S.C., four days later, and police found some of the stolen items in his hotel room.</p><p>"I feel he is genuine and sincere in his acceptance of responsibility," defense attorney Peter Johnson said Wednesday.</p><p>Judge Carl C. Brown Jr. sentenced Beasley to life without parole for murder, life for armed robbery and five years for a weapon violation.</p><p>___</p><p>HASH(0x2866200)</p>
