<p>Miss Georgia Danica Tisdale capture top honors in talent as the 52 women vying for Miss America wrapped up their preliminary competitions Wednesday.</p><p>Performing before a half-empty house in Boardwalk Hall, Miss Utah Amy Davis won in swimsuit, joining contestants from Massachusetts, Florida, California and Louisiana as preliminary winners.</p><p>At Miss America, the contestants are divided into three groups and compete for three nights in preliminary contests, which serve as both qualifying rounds and dress rehearsals for the finals and crowning of Miss America 2005 (9 p.m., ABC).</p><p>The preliminary results determine which women advance to the top 10, which will be announced early in Saturday's shortened two-hour telecast.</p><p>Tisdale, 24, of Atlanta, a Ph.D. candidate at Emory University, sang "Please Send Me Someone to Love" for her talent offering. She won a $4,000 college scholarship for besting 16 other women in her group.</p><p>Davis, 23, of Bountiful, Utah, who survived a brain injury as a teenager and used the experience in picking her platform issue, won in swimsuit, wearing a two-piece yellow-and-black Speedo. In doing so, she won a $2,000 scholarship to add to the $5,000 in scholarship money given to every contestant who participates.</p><p>The misses all competed in casual wear and evening wear, too, but the winners in those categories are not made public.</p><p>For most of the women, preliminary competition was the only opportunity to perform their talent routines. This year, for the first time since 1938, talent routines won't be a part of the Miss America finals.</p>
