Cumming girl dies after choking on hotdog in school lunchroom

CUMMING - A nine-year-old girl who lapsed into unconsciousness after choking on a hot dog at a school in Forsyth County has died.<br> <br> County Coroner Lauren McDonald III said Tuesday that Arely Rodriguez died Thursday after being removed from life support. Her death came a week after the food lodged in her windpipe in the cafeteria of Midway Elementary School.<br> <br> Witnesses told the coroner the accident happened September 9 as Arely and some friends apparently were joking about who could eat a hot dog fastest.<br> <br> The child never regained consciousness and died at Children&#39;s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite.
