WASHINGTON, D.C. - Marcos Moreno threw three first-half touchdowns as Howard defeated Savannah State 53-7 Saturday in Howard's second straight win.<br>

Moreno connected twice in the end zone with Thyron Lewis and once with Larry Duncan. Roland Colbert rushed for one touchdown and returned a punt 72 yards for another score as the Bison (2-2, 0-1 MEAC) scored 23 points in the first quarter alone.<br>

Carl Alleyene brought an interception back 97 yards for another Howard TD late in the fourth quarter.<br>

Colbert and Antoine Rutherford each rushed for over 100 yards as Howard racked up 297 yards on the ground and 496 yards of total offense. Rutherford also had a 3-yard touchdown run.<br>

The lone score for Savannah State (1-2, 0-0 I-AA) came in the third quarter on a six-yard pass from Zachery Wilson to Khalil Hasan.<br>

The Tigers managed only 11 first downs to Howard's 24.
