GAINESVILLE - Two Region 7-AAA teams will begin the year rated in the top 10 in the Class AAA power ratings.
According to the ratings by GAVSV.com, Gainesville is rated fourth while North Hall is rated seventh in the first power ratings of the season.
Johnson is rated 22nd, West Hall 27th, Flowery Branch 53rd, Chestatee 56th and White County 71st. For other Region 7-AAA tams, Pickens County is rated 37th, Fannin County 51st and Gilmer County 55th.
For other northeast Georgia teams, Stephens County is rated 15th, Hart County 17th, Elbert County 19th and Winder-Barrow 23rd.
The Red Elephants are coming off an 11-1 season in which they were ranked No. 1 at one point, but were knocked out in the second round by Westminster.
The Trojans are coming off a 9-2 season and their second straight trip to the playoffs.
Shaw, which lost in the quarterfinals in Class AAAA last year, is rated No. 1 ahead of defending Class AAA champ LaGrange. Thomson is third and Cartersville fifth. State runner-up Peach County is rated sixth. Troup, Washington County and M.L. King round out the top 10.
