LAWRENCEVILLE - The parents of a 17-year-old boy who sustained a serious head injury during an attack at a Suwanee school two years ago are suing the Gwinnett County School System.

The suit filed August 18 by Joe and Michelle Bajjani says the school system failed to implement a safety plan that provides prompt medical attention when people are injured.

The couple says their son -- Timothy -- has suffered seizures and a sleep disorder since he was kicked in the head several times in August 2002 at North Gwinnett High School by a student they claim has a history of disciplinary problems.

The lawsuit says Gwinnett County schools should be held responsible for failing to warn students about classmates who could be dangerous. The suit also says the school system was slow to provide emergency medical attention. It seek unspecified damages.

The teen was attacked about 10:30 a-m August 19, 2002, in a school courtyard. Court documents say student Richard Bagley pushed Bajjani into a wall, punched him until he fell to the ground and kicked him in the stomach and face.

School officials moved him to the clinic and called his mother. He was unconscious and bleeding from his nose and mouth. School officials said they did not believe Bajjani was seriously injured after the attack.

The parents have filed a separate lawsuit against Bagley's parents.
