Coupon mailer moving Elm City operation to Florida

<p>Valpak, a company that produces and distributes coupons through the mail, will close its Elm City plant and moving its operations to Florida, where it already has another facility.</p><p>Valpak is owned by Florida-based Cox Target Media, which is owned by Atlanta-based Cox Newspapers.</p><p>Valpak employs 435 people at the Wilson County plant, which will close in two years, the company announced Tuesday.</p><p>Those operations, along with those of Valpak's Largo, Fla., plant _ where 428 people work _ will be shifted to a new, 500,000-square-foot facility in St. Petersburg, Fla.</p><p>The new facility will have 500 workers. Cox Target Media spokesman David Williams said people from both locations will have a chance to apply to work at the new plant, though they won't learn until November 2005 whether they have gotten the jobs.</p>
