Qualifying ahead for Amateurs

GREENSBORO, GA - Qualifying for the 2004 U.S. Amateur Championship will held Monday and Tuesday at the Reynolds Plantation on Lake Oconee. <br> <br> A field of 144 players will be vying for six spots in the U.S. Amateur, which will be August 16th-through-22nd at the Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaronek, New York. After one round of qualifying at the Reynolds Plantation par-72 Oconee Course, the field will be reduced to the low 44 and ties and anyone within eight strokes of the lead. The six qualifiers and four alternates will be determined by the lowest 36-hole scores. <br> <br> Qualifying for the U.S. Amateur also was held at Piedmont Driving Club in Atlanta on July 27th and 28th. The qualifiers were Harold Wyatt of Atlanta, Bob Royak of Alpharetta, Roberto Castro of Alpharetta, Mart Strickland of Woodstock and Tevis Upton of Douglasville.
