The man suspected in the fatal shootings of his former girlfriend, her current boyfriend and a 3-year-old boy at a home in southwest Atlanta has been arrested in Mississippi.

Demetrious Willis, 26, surrendered to police just before midnight Monday in Clarksdale, Miss., said Coahoma County Sheriff Andrew Thompson. Willis is from Friars Point, near Clarksdale, and was thought to be heading there.

Killed were Willis' ex-girlfriend, Talisha Hankins, 24; her current boyfriend, Jerry Williams Jr., 32; and the couple's youngest child, Jerry Williams III, 3.

According to an aunt of Jerry Williams, the gunman shot Hankins several times in the head.

Each body was found in a separate room, and there was no sign of forced entry into the home, said Atlanta police Lt. R.C. Robinson.

Another child of the couple, 6-year-old Cora Hankins, was shot in the hip.

The alleged gunman's daughter with Hankins, 10-year-old Quinsha Hankins, was shot in the shoulder. She dialed 911 on a cell phone to report the incident, Robinson said.

Quinsha Hankins identified her father to authorities after the incident, according to Barbara Hankins, the girl's great-aunt.

Cora Hankins and Quinsha Hankins were in stable condition at an Atlanta hospital. Their injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

A third child _ 6-year-old Jerrien Hankins _ was not injured.

Neighbors had reported hearing loud arguments from the home, where the family had only lived a few months.

Thompson said authorities in Mississippi were alerted that Willis was heading there and set up a roadblock near Clarksdale.

But Willis apparently changed cars and eluded capture, Thompson said. He later walked into a police station and simply turned himself in. Willis wasn't armed.

"He was quiet and reserved, I would say," Thompson said.

Willis has been charged in Atlanta and will be extradited.

Thompson said two companions who traveled to Atlanta and back with Willis were also detained but not charged with a crime. One man was a related to Willis, and the other was a friend, Thompson said.
