GAINESVILLE - Hall County fire investigators are looking for the cause and origin of a fire that damaged several vehicles at Gainesville Salvage on Athens Highway Monday afternoon.
"When firefighters arrived they found a total of 14 vehicles that were burning," Hall County Fire Marshall David Kimbrell said.
Gainesville firefighters also responded to the blaze at about 3:00 p.m.
"Immediatly it's suspicious when you have cars that burn in the middle of a junkyard, so we're doing the investigation as if it were a suspicious fire," Kimbrell said.
Kimbrell said the owner of the Athens Highway business estimates the value of each vehicle at about $2500, putting the overall damage estimate at about $35,000.
No one was hurt. Kimbrell said no one was at the business at the time of the fire.
