Attorney for Lynn Turner says she will appeal conviction

ATLANTA - The attorney for a former Forsyth County 911 operator found guilty in the antifreeze poisoning death of her police officer husband said he plans to appeal the verdict.

Lynn Turner was sentenced to life in prison Friday after a jury convicted her of murdering 31-year-old Glenn Turner of Cobb County in 1995.

Turner's defense lawyer -- Jimmy Berry -- says that allowing the 2001 death of Turner's boyfriend to be used as evidence will be the keystone of an appeal.

Berry says jurors heard more evidence about the death of 32-year-old Randy Thompson -- a Forsyth County firefighter and the father of Turner's two children -- than the death of Glenn Turner.

Berry says that he believes the verdict would have been different if they had tried the Glenn Turner case alone.

Prosecutor Jack Mallard says a Forsyth County grand jury will be asked next month to charge Lynn Turner with Thompson's death.

Meanwhile, Turner still receives $800 a month in her husband's pension benefits, according to a county personnel manager.
