MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA - Larry Pittmon went 3-for-4 and drove in the go-ahead run to help Columbus State defeat Kutztown 10-8 Sunday in the first round of the NCAA Division II tournament.<br>

Kutztown (37-15) used a seven-run fifth inning to take an 8-5 lead, getting a grand slam from Ryan Loper and a three-run homer from Greg Rada in the frame.<br>
<br>
But the Cougars (40-19), who won the 2002 Division II title, scored twice in the bottom of the fifth and twice more in the sixth to erase the deficit.<br>
<br>
Garrett Groce tied the game with an RBI double, then scored on a single by Pittmon. The Cougars added an insurance run in the seventh when Nick Shay scored on a throwing error.<br>

Columbus State reliever Hurston Pittman (4-1) picked up the win, allowing two runs on four hits in 3 2/3 innings of work.<br>

Kutztown reliever Kyle Sadlowski (6-2) took the loss. He allowed three runs on six hits in 2 2/3 innings.<br>
<br>
Columbus State advances to play the winner of the game between Central Missouri State and Delta State. Kutztown will play the loser in an elimination game.
