Teenager gets 18 years in boyfriend's beating death

<p>A 14-year-old girl has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for helping a group of young men and women kidnap her boyfriend and beat him to death.</p><p>Brittany Crumbley pleaded guilty to adult charges of voluntary manslaughter and kidnapping on Thursday. The sentence, part of a plea agreement, was lighter than she might have received because of her cooperation in the case against other defendants. She will not be eligible for parole.</p><p>Crumbley is the fourth defendant to plead guilty in the death of Kareem Cowan, 20, whom she lured out of his house in south DeKalb County on Aug. 17. Three others have received life sentences. Another four await trial.</p><p>According to accounts given to police, a group of youths set out to beat and humiliate Cowan for perceived insults or because of competition for Crumbley's attentions. Statements given to police said the group kicked, punched and stomped on him, urinated and poured gasoline on him and finally left him dying in woods near Columbia Elementary School.</p><p>___</p><p>HASH(0x2868198)</p>
