GAINESVILLE - Republican candidates , whether first-timers or incumbents, will be able to meet with a panel from the Hall County Republican Party to discuss why they are running for office, the GOP's principles, and their stands on issues .
"These interviews are another way to strengthen the growing ties between GOP candidates and the Hall County Republican Party," said Joe Cwik, Hall County Republican Party Chairman. "We believe this will be useful for our candidates as well as to party activists and all interested voters.
"For first-time candidates," Cwik said, "this is a chance not only to talk about issues and our principles, but to learn more about what to expect in a campaign, what a campaign costs, the demands it makes on your time. The experience of the interview itself should be useful as they face questions from voters and the media.
"For incumbents and veterans of other campaigns," he said, "this is a chance to build additional ties to the party in an election year, to talk about issues, to chat with other Republicans about what we stand for, and to get their name out to voters several more times," he said.
Candidates will be sent a questionnaire before the interview, and the discussion will proceed from that.
Local candidates invited to the interviews include those running for: board of commissioners, clerk of the court, coroner, district attorney, probate judge, chief magistrate, sheriff, surveyor, solicitor general of the state court, school board, and tax commissioner.
Interviews, which will take about 45 minutes, will be scheduled from 5:30-9:30 p.m. on April 7, 8, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 17. Anyone wishing to schedule an interview should call Cwik at 770-297-3272.
