GAINESVILLE - Fire gutted the office at the Firestone store in Gainesville Tuesday morning.
Gainesville Fire Chief Dick Taylor says the blaze began shortly after workers began arriving for the day around 8:00.
"The fire itself was contained to that room but did considerable damage to the electrical system," Chief Taylor said.
He said there was also considerable smoke damage.
Chief Taylor said the fire was probably caused by an electrical problem and spread quickly.
"So, in a matter of 8-10 minutes, this fire evolved in that general area."
Taylor says the store, which is located on an "out parcel" at Colonial Lakeshore Mall, will probably have to be closed for several days.
