Gainesville Garden Expo Saturday

GAINESVILLE - Spring is here, and with it comes the urge in many people to dig, prune, plant and mow.

If you're into gardening or just looking for a family outing, you might want to visit the Second Annual Gainesville Garden Expo scheduled for Saturday at the Hall County Farmers Market.

It's sponsored by the Hall County Master Gardeners and the Hall County Extension Service and will be held 8:00-4:00.

Hall County Extension Agent Billy Skaggs says about 30 vendors are scheduled to be at the Expo selling a variety of items, including specialty plants, annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, garden art, greenhouses, hand tools, and lawn
furniture.

Also scheduled throughout the day are hands-on demonstrations including composting, how to build concrete bird baths, pruning, how to
build a blue bird house, double digging , and rain gardens.

Educational seminars will also be held throughout the day at the Hall County Extension office, just up the hill from the Farmers Market. The schedule includes "Build Your Own Ornamental Pond" at 9:00 am and 1:00 pm and "Landscape Design" at 11:00am and
3:00pm.

For gardening questions, suggestions and advice, the "Ask a Master Gardener" booth will be open.
