Atlanta prep phenom Dwight Howard to announce decision on going pro

ATLANTA - High school basketball phenomenon Dwight Howard of Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy is expected to announce Wednesday that he will turn professional rather than attend college.<br>

Howard, a 6-foot-10 forward, is projected to be a lottery selection and possibly the top pick in the NBA draft. The 6-foot-10 forward averaged 25 points, 18 rebounds and eight blocked shots to lead his team to the Class A state championship this past season. He was named Mr. Georgia Basketball by the Atlanta Tipoff Club and also was selected as the Naismith Prep Basketball Player of the Year.<br>

Howard made an official visit to North Carolina in October and also had considered Georgia Tech and Georgia.
