Voters OK one Banks issue, reject another

By by Ken Stanford
HOMER - Banks County voters Tuesday rejected a change in their form of government.

By a 103-vote margin, they turned down a proposal to convert to a three-commissioner/county administrator system. The vote was 1,005-902.

The county now has a three-member commission with the chairman overseeing the day-to-day operation of the county.

Also Tuesday, voters approved increasing the homestead exemption for people 65 and older, or disabled, from $16,000 to $20,000.

That vote was 1,665-241.
