Georgia State advances in Atlantic Sun tourney with 55-47 win over Stetson

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Herman Favors scored 13 points and had five assists as Georgia State advanced to the semifinals of the Atlantic Sun tournament with a 55-47 victory over Stetson on Thursday night.<br>

Fourth-seeded Georgia State (20-8, 14-6) will face top-seeded and defending champion Troy State on Friday.<br>

D'Andre McGrew scored 10 points for the Panthers, which held Stetson to 31 percent shooting and a season low in points.<br>
<br>
E.J. Gordon led the Hatters (12-15, 10-10) with 18 points, while Anthony Register added 11.<br>

Georgia State appeared to have the game in control, leading 39-26 with 11:46 to play before Stetson went on a 12-2 run to close the gap to 41-38 with 7:11 left. The Panthers responded with six straight points and maintained control down the stretch.<br>

Georgia State used a stifling man-to-man defense in the first half to take a 30-18 lead. Stetson missed 14 of its first 15 shots and shot 20 percent in the first half (4-for-20). The Panthers used a 13-2 run to take a 15-5 lead and never let Stetson back into the game. Nate Williams scored five points during the run.<br>
