MACON - Gainesville advanced to Saturday's championship game in the class AAA girls high school basketball tournament Friday afternoon.
Gainesville (29-3)swept past Westover (23-4) 58-31 to advance to the title game Saturday against old 7-AAA foe Fannin County. The Lady Rebels (25-7) eliminated Thomasville 60-49 to earn the right to play Gainesville for the third time this season.
Tasha Humphrey led GHS with 22 points - tops for any player in the game. Humphrey, within seconds of the opening tipoff, hit a 3-pointer to get the Lady Elephants off to a fast start. However, she left the game in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury.
Humphrey is expected to play in Saturday night's championship game.
