Another windy day expected; wind causes power outages

PEACHTREE CITY - Did you almost get blown away everytime you poked your head out the door Sunday?

"Windy" was the "weather word" around town most of the day - and it looks like it'll be that way again Monday.

A lake wind advisory remains in effect for just about all of north and central Georgia - including the Gaineville area - until 6:00 Monday night.

The strongest gust recorded Sunday in Gainesville was 42 mph at 7:19 p.m.

About 200 customers remained without power at daybreak Monday morning after high winds downed trees and limbs hit power lines overnight.

Georgia Power spokeswoman Lolita Browning says some 3,000 customers in the north Atlanta area were without power Sunday night. But she says the majority had power restored by midnight.

The remaining 200 customers were in the Peachtree-Dunwoody area.

The outages started around 8 p-m Sunday when high winds caused trees and limbs to fall on the lines.
