GC awarded poultry science education grant

OAKWOOD - The Gainesville College and the Division of Natural Sciences has accepted a $5,500 Poultry Science Education Funding Program grant from the U.S. Poultry and Egg Association.

The funds will be used to recruit new students into the poultry science program. Recruitment activities will include educational meetings with high school counselors and teachers, partial scholarships for prospective poultry science students, supplies for presentations, and tours of the Gainesville College Campus as well as poultry science and other related industries.

Retired Hall County Extension Director Gene Anderson co-wrote the grant with Dr. Lewis Rogers, Chair Gainesville College's Division of Natural Sciences. They were both on hand when Jim Brock, President of Crystal Farms delivered the grant check on behalf of the U. S. Poultry and Egg Association.
