Tour de Georgia volunteers needed

By by Ken Stanford
GAINESVILLE - The call is going out for volunteers for this year's Tour de Georgia when it comes through Gainesville in a few weeks.

From street marshals to staffing the downtown Tour de Georgia Festival, about 200 volunteers are needed for April 24 when the cyclists roll through town on their way from Athens to the mountains.

Volunteers will be needed along the Hall County route to help with traffic control for businesses and the cyclists.

The race - which will feature Lance Armstrong and other top cyclists from around the world - will cross Hall County along U.S. 129 about noon April 24.

You must be at least 18-years-old to volunteer for most assignments. Contact the Gainesville-Hall County Convention & Visitors Bureau if you are interested.
