DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA - Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Elliott Sadler were the winners of the twin 125-mile qualifying races for the Daytona 500.
Earnhardt won the first race with Sadler taking the second.
Earnhardt earned the third spot on the 43-car Sunday grid. Sadler started from the pole in the second qualifier. Sterling Marlin was second and will start fourth in the Daytona 500.
Greg Biffle started on the pole in the first race. He and Sadler had locked up the front row starting positions for the 500 in qualifying last Sunday.
Thursday's races determined positions three through 30, with the next eight starters coming from the qualifying on Sunday and the final five from last year's car owner points.
