ATLANTA - Tasha Humphrey has been named a finalist for the Naismith Prep Basketball Player of the Year award, released Monday by the Atlanta Tipoff Club.
The 6-foot-3 Gainesville High senior is the only player from Georgia to make the list.
Humphrey leads Hall County in scoring this year at 22 points a game.
Humphrey and the Lady Elephants advanced to the Class AAA Sweet 16 last week in the state tournament. They are going for their second straight title and third in Humphrey's four years.
Humphrey has already signed a letter of intent to play at the University of Georgia next year.
Her mother, Brenda Hill, is an assistant at Georgia.
