RICHMOND, KENTUCKY - Matt Witt scored a season-high 24 points to lead Eastern Kentucky to an 87-59 victory over Savannah State Thursday night.<br>

Michael Haney added 15 points and 11 rebounds for Eastern (4-0), Jason McLeish scored 13 points and Alonzo Hird had 11 rebounds.<br>

Mark Williams led Savannah State (0-8) with 18 points, followed by Donald Carson with 14 and Alvin Edwards with 13.<br>

Witt was 7-of-12 from the field for the game and scored 10 points in the first half. He also was 6-of-10 from 3-point range.<br>

Savannah State jumped out to an 8-2 lead, but Eastern responded with a 19-2 run that gave the Colonels a 21-10 lead with 11:55 remaining in the first half.<br>

Eastern held a 44-22 lead with 19 minutes left. Savannah State rallied and narrowed the margin to 50-40 at the 13:50 mark but could get no closer.<br>
<br>
The Colonels outrebounded the Tigers 46-32 and shot 40 percent from the field.
