DAHLONEGA - North Georgia shot 55 percent from the floor for the game as the Saints sailed past Emmanuel College 89-74 Monday night in Southern States Athletic Conference play at Memorial Gymnasium. <br>

North Georgia closes 2004 6-4 overall and 2-2 in the SSAC, while Emmanuel College drops to 2-10 overall and 1-4 in the conference.<br>

The Saints took the lead in the first half and never looked back as they jumped out to a 14-7 lead early in the first half. Lions sophomore guard Shavoye Brown's jumper at the 11:50 mark cut the lead to four, but that was the closest Emmanuel got for the rest of the game. <br>

The Saints were led in the first by junior forward Dustin David of Nicholson who scored 11 of his 15 point in the first half after going 5-7 from the floor and 1-3 from behind the arc. <br>

In the second half North Georgia's sophomore guard Matt Causey og Gainesville took over the game and scored 15 points in the half. <br>
<br>
With 8:42, sophomore forward Mark Trust of Winder flushed a dunk off of an assist from Causey to give the Saints their largest lead of the game and make the score 73-48. In the final minutes of the second half, North Georgia stretched the court and let the clock play defense as time expired. <br>

Emmanuel fought throughout the game, led by junior guard Ryan Frazee, who shot 8-11 for the game and 4-5 from behind the arc. Frazee scored a game high 26 points while dishing out four assists. <br>

The Lions will return to Dahlonega on January 4 to play in the North Georgia Classic Lindsey Wilson at 6:00 p.m. <br>

The Saints will follow that game at 8:00 p.m. as they take on Tennessee Temple in the second game of the classic.
