RICHMOND, Va. (AP) Tommie Eddie's 3-point field goal with 2.8 seconds remaining lifted Mississippi to a 63-62 victory over Virginia Commonwealth on Wednesday night.<br>

Virginia Commonwealth had a 56-44 lead with 3:41 remaining, but Eddie scored seven of his 12 points over the final span to lead the Rebels scoring. His final basket was his first 3-point attempt of the season.<br>

Nolen Londrick and Todd Abernethy each added 11 points for the Rebels (8-4).<br>
<br>
In winning their sixth straight game, the Rebels pulled to 61-60 with 14 seconds remaining on a 3-pointer by Brandon Patterson.<br>

Following Eddie's go-ahead shot, Virginia Commonwealth's B.A. Walker missed a jumper from the foul line at the buzzer.<br>

The Rams (4-5), who had hit 18 of their first 19 free throws, were 6-of-11 over the final 4:06 and committed five turnovers.<br>

Michael Doles led the Rams with a season-high 18 points and Walker added 15.<br>

The Rebels led 25-21 at halftime, holding the Rams to 27 percent from the floor.
