NE Georgia prosecutor arrested

GRANTVILLE - An assistant district attorney from northeast Georgia and his wife face felony marijuana charges following their arrests in Coweta County two days before Christmas.<br> <br> Robert D. Cullifer, 48, of Clayton said he resigned from his job effective Friday.<br> <br> Cullifer and his wife, Carol Lucas Cullifer, 50, were charged with felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.<br> <br> Two Grantville police officers arrested the Cullifers south of Atlanta Dec. 23 at a convenience store near Interstate 85, Chief Jerry Ramos said.<br> <br> While Robert Cullifer was inside the store, the alarm on his 2000 Nissan Xterra went off and his wife couldn&#39;t stop it, Ramos said.<br> <br> The officers reported that when they tried to help, they noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car.<br> <br> Robert Cullifer produced a sandwich bag with 30 grams of material that tested positive for being marijuana.<br> <br> Cullifer has prosecuted cases in the Mountain Judicial Circuit, which includes Habersham, Rabun and Stephens counties.<br> <br> Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney Mike Crawford said Cullifer had worked as a prosecutor almost two decades in the Mountain and Alapaha circuits.
