Georgia Supreme Court upholds murder conviction in wife slaying

<p>The Georgia Supreme Court has upheld the murder conviction of a former Riverdale undercover narcotics officer serving a life sentence for the 1997 death of his wife.</p><p>The state Supreme Court said Monday that a trial judge properly allowed about 30 hearsay statements against Jim Watson, who was on trial for the murder of his wife Beverley.</p><p>"We are very gratified," Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard said. "Hopefully, people will see there is no question ... that jurors made the right decision."</p><p>Beverley Watson's remains were found in March 1999 in a wooded area near Fairburn, about 20 miles from his Fayette County home.</p><p>Prosecutors discounted Jim Watson's contention that after an argument, his wife walked out of the house in the bitter cold of January 1997, leaving behind her car.</p><p>___</p><p>HASH(0x2867624)</p>
