<p>Georgia Gulf Corp. will shut down its Tiptonville, Tenn., compound plant effective immediately as part of its "ongoing commitment to operational efficiency."</p><p>In a press release Monday, the chemicals company said it considered several factors related to the plant closing, including the capital investment required to ensure competitiveness.</p><p>Georgia Gulf added customers will not see any changes due to increased efficiencies from other compound manufacturing locations.</p><p>A company spokeswoman said all 57 Tiptonville employees will lose their jobs. The company currently has about 1,200 employees total.</p>
