'Take A Talking Book' campaign planned in Hall

GAINESVILLE - The East Hall Library and Special Needs Library have launched a public relations campaign, targeting area seniors.

"Take a Talking Book" is the title of the initiative and is all about educating seniors about special library services available for people who cannot read standard print.

The public is invited to a special drop-in open house at the East Hall Branch and Special Needs Library on Thursday from noon 'til three. Library staff will offer tours and demonstrations of the equipment available to assist individuals with specials needs.

A "talking book" is a specially recorded book on tape. The talking book program, available through the library system, offers those who cannot see regular print, hold a book, or turn a page the opportunity to continue enjoying reading. These recordings of books and magazines are played on easy-to-use playback equipment.

Talking books and playback equipment are available at no charge to eligible individuals. Participants also send and receive their equipment and reading materials at no charge through the mail.
