The preliminary results of Tuesday's elections in Northeast Georgia are as follows.
White County
In White County three races were decided at the county level, Incumbent Sheriff Neal Walden maintained his seat with 78 percent of the vote over Danny Garland. Chris Nonnemaker is County Commission Chairman with 51 percent of the vote beating Roger London. Kendyl Rudd Brock beat Timothy Dockery with 51 percent of the vote for Board of Education Chairman.
Banks County
Banks County had three countywide seats up for grabs Tuesday, Sheriff Charles Chapman was able to keep his office by downing challenger Allen Venable with 60 percent of the vote. Henry Galloway is the new coroner with 59 percent of the vote over Billy Poole. The County commission seat for district one went to Gene Hart over incumbent Kenneth Brady with 64 percent of vote.
Habersham County
The new Sheriff Elect in Habersham County is Deray Fincher who defeated William L. Fain with 54 percent of the vote. Coroner David Wall won the race for Clerk of Superior Court with 56 percent of the vote over Ernest Nations Jr. Don Pitts will take his position after downing Roy Perry with 58 percent.
Ann Frye Adams Jarrell is Probate Judge by defeating T. Jeff Moore with 44 percent of the vote. Tax Commissioner went to Jane Murphy Black who took 52 percent of the vote over Rhoda D. Seabolt.
Jim Butterworth defeated Bruce T. Irvin for for County Commissioner District One with 75 percent of the vote. The commission district four seat went to Rick Austin who edged out Ernest W. Franklin with 64 percent of the vote. And, the board of education seat goes to Dick Martin with 54 percent of the vote over Amy Sgro.
Forsyth County
Lauren W. McDonald the third has held onto his seat as coroner of Forsyth County after getting 78 percent of the vote over challenger Mary Beth Pais. The County Commission District 2 seat went to Brian R. Tam with 77 percent of the vote over Joseph M. Hart.
Jackson County
Voters in Jackson County chose to keep two incumbents who were challenged in office Tuesday. With 13 of 15 precincts reporting Stan Evans remains Sheriff with 80-percent of the vote over E.C. Brogan. Kieth Whitfield also remains Coroner over challenger Sammy Mark Qualls with 80 percent.
Pat Bell will succeed Harold Fletcher as county commission chairman after beating Roy Grubbs with 79-percent of the vote. Voters also elected to change the way the school system is structured.
Barrow County
The only contested race in Barrow County will go to a runoff. It is a special election for County Commission for district six. Four people ran and Don Holliday is leading with 36 percent of the vote to Ben Hendrix having 26 percent. Jim Beckemeyer and Teeny Allison Hang had 21 percent and 17 percent respectively.
Banks County
Banks County had three countywide seats up for grabs Tuesday.

Lumpkin County
A total of seven contested races were up for grabs in Lumpkin County Tuesday. Mark McClure beat incumbent Sheriff Jimmy Berry with 61 percent of the vote. Larry Bannister is the new coroner after downing Bradley McKinney with 63 percent.
The county establishes a county commission with Dr. John Raber taking the district one seat with 62 percent of the vote over Mel Hawkins, Deborah Hutcheson out did Kathy Duck for commission seat 2 with 68 percent. Clarence Stowers took the district three seat over Kevin Flanagan with 68 percent and Marvin Martin is district four commissioner after beating Diane Stephenson with 73 percent. Also, Liquer by the drink is now legal in the city of Dahlonega.
Barrow County
The only contested race in Barrow County will go to a runoff. It is a special election for County Commission for district six. Four people ran and Don Holliday is leading with 36 percent of the vote to Ben Hendrix having 26 percent. Jim Beckemeyer and Teeny Allison Hang had 21 percent and 17 percent respectively.
Dawson
There was a special election for an at large seat on the board of education. William S. Wade took the race with 53 percent over Bruce D. Roydes.
