GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) Jerome Felton's eight-yard touchdown run with just over a minute left gave Furman a 29-to-22 win over Georgia Southern today.<br>

The Eagles (8-2, 6-1 Southern Conference) then drove the ball to the Paladin 24, but Furman's Cam Newton batted down a pass in the end zone as time expired.<br>

The win means Furman (7-2, 4-1) can share the Southern Conference title with Georgia Southern if the Paladins beat Wofford and Chattanooga to end the season.<br>

Furman trailed 22-to-18 early in the fourth quarter after Jonathan Dudley's 40-yard field goal for the Eagles.<br>

Scott Beckler's 30-yard field goal with 7:22 to go cut the Georgia Southern lead to one. The Eagles managed to drive to midfield on the next possession before punting.<br>

Florida transfer Ingle Martin then led Furman on a seven-play, 80-yard scoring drive that began with a pass interference call and ended with Felton's game-winning run.<br>

Martin completed 13 of his 29 passes for 172 yards.<br>

Georgia Southern was led by quarterback Chaz Williams, who threw for 108 yards and ran for three touchdowns. Jermaine Austin led the Eagles, running for 114 yards on 25 carries.<br>

The Eagles came into Saturday averaging nearly 49 points and 487 yards a game, but lost to Furman for the first time in three seasons.
