Defending champ Hawkinsville back in Class A title game

ATLANTA - Todd Coley passed for 200 yards and Jeremy Marshall rushed for 152 as Hawkinsville earned a return to the Class A state championship with a 36-14 win over Bowdon in a semifinal game Saturday.<br>

Hawkinsville (14-0) won its 29th straight game and will go for its second straight state title next weekend against Clinch County, a 26-6 winner Friday over Lincoln County.<br>

Bowdon (11-3) turned ball over on seven straight possessions, leading to three Hawkinsville touchdowns. The Carroll County school was limited to 175 total yards.<br>

After a 24-yard field goal by Phillip Walter, Marshall's 17-yard run made it 9-0, and Johnathan Duhart's one-yard dive made it 16-0.<br>

Hawkinsville, which compiled 456 total offensive yards, pushed its lead to 29-0 with Marshall's seven-yard run and a one-yard pass from Coley to Kenuel Spivey.<br>

Scott Yates blocked a field goal attempt and returned it 78 yards for Bowdon's first score, but Hawkinsville capped the win with Duhart's 12-yard run early in the fourth quarter.<br>
